Meet our Crew

Real people. Real fish. Real care.

We’re a small family doing something big: bringing back respect to the way seafood is caught, prepared, and shared. Craft Fish Co. was founded by a husband-and-wife team who’ve spent their lives on the water. He still catches every fish with a pole and line. She brings her background in nutrition, health, and fishing to everything that happens after the catch.

We raise our two kids, Cuyler and Claire, with the same values we put into every tin: keep it clean, keep it simple, do it right.

This isn’t a company built in a boardroom. It’s a business built between fishing trips, nursing shifts, nighttime prayers, and bedtime stories. We believe in food that feeds you well and a future where the ocean is still thriving for them, and their children after them.

That’s what The Craft Fish Company is all about.

JJ Gerritsen

Founder, Fisherman, and Responsible Steward of the Sea.

Craft Fish Co. was started by someone who knows the ocean by heart, not from a business plan, but from a lifetime spent on the water. Growing up on these waters, he learned to respect the ocean, take only what’s needed, and never cut corners. For him fishing isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life.

JJ our founder, is a lifelong fisherman who still runs the boat that catches every fish using the same pole-and-line method that’s been used for centuries. No nets. No shortcuts. Just one fish at a time, caught with care.

For JJ, this isn’t about scaling up it’s about staying true. True to preserving a craft, producing a quality product, feeding people honestly, and being a responsible steward of the sea. Every tin we sell starts with his hands on the helm and ends with his commitment to doing things the right way.

Jessica

Founder, Nurse Practitioner, Responsible Steward of the Sea

She’s not just the co-owner, she’s a fisherman’s wife, a mom of two, and someone who’s spent more time on the water than most people do in their kitchens. Before Craft Fish Co., she worked on sportfishing boats for over a decade developing a deep respect for the ocean and conservation. She holds a captain’s license, a degree in nutrition, and works as a family nurse practitioner. Every part of her life is rooted in care, whether it’s for people, for food, or the ocean.

Jessica brings that same mindset to The Craft Fish Company. From managing operations to ensuring the quality of every tin, she’s the steady hand behind the scenes. She's the one making sure the finished product has exceptional flavor, is nourishing, and is responsibly made, because it’s her family’s go-to lunch, snack, or weeknight dinner, and she wouldn’t serve anything less to yours.

For Jessica, this isn’t just a business. It’s a reflection of the life they’ve built together; intentional, honest, and full of purpose. It’s not flashy. It’s not fast. But it’s real. That’s what The Craft Fish Company is built on.
